
I am passionate about working with men and couples on topics such as intimacy in relationships, re-negotiating traditional gender roles, improving emotion regulation, and increasing quality of communication. Many of the folks I work with are busy professionals balancing their career ambitions amidst the demands of parenting, social engagements, and household responsibilities. Together we can find areas of life where you may have an opportunity to reduce stress and more effectively tolerate the parts of life where difficulty is inevitable.
I have extensive training and experience in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). This involves finding the nuance in situations where one might perceive things in absolute, black and white terms. We live in a complex world, and the ability to find the gray area on divisive issues is key to navigating it with grace and humility. I also have corporate leadership experience, which gives me insight into my clients' work-related stressors.
Clients have repeatedly told me they appreciate the structure I maintain during appointments. It can be tempting to continuously chase the "new problem of the week" each therapy appointment, however, this approach does little to substantively move things forward. Regardless of the subject matter brought to the table, I pride myself on drawing a through-line to clients' long-term goals and helping clients discern how to use our time together most effectively.
