Certified Sex Therapist
I practice from a position of empowerment and liberation. I believe in helping clients build resiliency and harness their inner strengths. I believe in taking an affirming approach to diagnosis and assessment. While a diagnosis can be helpful for some by naming the chaos in people's lives, you are not your label. I build deep understandings of my clients as whole, complex people.
I also practice with a social justice lens. In my view, sex therapy is about liberation from the confines of shame and repressive cultural norms. Sexuality is a personal and sensitive subject for people, and I have a deep abiding respect for the diverse ways that people live and share this part of their lives.
Therapy with me is highly engaging and even playful. A lot of laughter happens in my office, which is an important part of healing and growth. Laughter creates an endorphin release that reduces anxiety. Playfulness shakes loose the inertia of our lives and creates possibilities. With a topic as sensitive as sexuality, laughter is helpful. After all, sex can also be hilarious.
As a nerd myself, I am passionate about working clients who look at the world differently and don't necessarily "fit in." These include neurodivergent folks with autism and ADHD, people who practice kink/bdsm and ethical nonmonogamy, and those who just have those special unique interests that much of society just does not seem to understand.
For more information, to contact me, or request an appointment, please visit my website. I am accepting new clients and offer free 30 minute consultations to see if I am a good fit. While I do not take insurance, I do accept payment from HSA's and FSA's, and I can provide documentation to access out-of-network benefits.
