I believe in bringing resiliency and empowerment into people’s lives. I have found that the stories of our lives can be powerfully moving and powerfully entrapping. Since I was a child, I have always loved the Wizard of Oz. The characters eventually discover that they always had the brains, heart, and courage they thought were lost. Life is not as simple as clicking one’s heels three times to get back home, but much of my therapy style is about discovering strengths that we may have had all along.
I find it is important to empower others to consciously narrate their lives. I value helping people through empowerment, nurturance, and education. I am innovative provider and enjoy creativity in the therapy room. I utilize a strengths based approach in therapy, and see the therapy as a collaborative process. I am passionate for helping individuals find confidence and courage, and I admire their resilience.
My style is gentle, caring and playful. My approach includes focusing on strengths and learning to approach challenges with a humanistic value. My goal is to support people in working towards their health and wellness goals.
I have nearly fifteen years of experience working in the field of mental health. I am licensed both in Minnesota and Wisconsin as a Licensed independent clinical social worker. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings with a wide range of clients with diverse backgrounds. The settings include schools, community mental health, hospital and outpatient.
I have special interest in working with people who are neurodiverse (e.g. ADHD, learning difficulties, and Autism). I also have an interest supporting people with anxiety, depression, women's issues, school concerns, and social concerns. I enjoy working with people over the life span and this informs my practice in work with children, teens and adults. My work draws on Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT), solution-oriented brief therapy, brainspotting, play therapy, sand tray therapy and trauma informed therapy.
In my free time I enjoy family time, traveling, music, working on puzzles, playing with my golden retriever Sienna, and coaching color guard (marching arts).
