I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, as well as a certified yoga teacher, avid baker, and animal enthusiast. In my clinical practice I intentionally call myself a relational therapist, because I have found the title of being a "marriage and family therapist" to be too limiting. I want to provide gender affirming, inclusive care for all. After all, marriage, and family are only two categories that relationships can exist in. I want to reach further than that. I want to welcome parents and children, blood family members, chosen family members, poly family members, domestic partnerships, consensually non-monogamous relationships, even “situation-ships” just trying to figure it out.
I offer attachment-based, trauma-sensitive therapy in combination with experiential therapies such as art and movement to guide my clients to access their experiences in new ways, and create a deeper understanding of themselves and those they are in relationship with. I am also passionate about walking alongside teenagers and adults needing support in navigating transitions, identity work, and generational trauma.
On my way to becoming a therapist, I have been an art teacher, competitive athlete and behavioral health specialist working with children on the Autism spectrum. Each of these chapters of life have given so many lessons and perspectives, and I strive to integrate that knowledge into my present work as a couples and family therapist. Throughout my professional career, I have received training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), as well as dedicating significant time during my master's program to research focused on the impacts of trauma throughout the life cycle, and how those impacts show up in present day relationships.
In a session with me, you will of course do some talking! And, you can expect a collaborative, empathetic approach from me each day, with whatever version of yourself that you bring into the room. That might mean that in a session together you might go outside, work with a therapy dog in session, move your body or dig into some art supplies. I really value collaborating with my clients to create meaningful goals on each of their unique journeys towards sustainable, lasting, and positive change.
I am currently offering couples, family, and individual therapy to folks in Colorado and Minnesota (virtually), as well as animal assisted therapy and nature-based therapy to those in Minnesota. When I’m not in my office, you can most likely find me outside somewhere exploring with my dogs, or making copious amounts of bagels.
